Regardless, I could not neglect my monthly favorites post, as it’s one of my favorite (lol) to write every month. Here are a bunch of things I’ve been loving lately; I hope you enjoy!
Beauty/Fashion
Naked Skin Concealer by Urban Decay ($28)
You can say that I’m on a perpetual quest for the perfect concealer, and this is a concealer that has definitely made it into my top 5 of all time. It’s super buildable, quick and easy to blend, and it provides just the right amount of coverage without feeling cakey in any way (just make sure to blend it with a wet sponge!). The only downside of this product is obviously the price, but if I was going to splurge on any product again, it would definitely be this one.
While this mist isn’t for setting your makeup, I love using it as a refresher after a long day of classes or for layering over your makeup to make the most out of your highlight possible. It really does what it says it’s going to do on the bottle – it hydrates your face quickly (and it smells fantastic, to boot!).
Off-the-Shoulder Tops
This is my first time including a fashion category in my monthly favorites, but I had to give a shout-out to the off-the-shoulder tops I’ve been absolutely loving. I bought three over the course of the past four weeks (oops?), and I love the way that they look. They make you feel so put together with minimal effort and can be worn with literally any bottoms. Plus, you get the comfort of baring your shoulders without showing the rest of your arms. I’m definitely going to be purchasing more for the summer, and I highly recommend them.
You can buy similar ones to the tops I’m wearing in the above pictures here (American Eagle) and here (Express). The third top I got from Primark, and they sadly don’t sell online!
Music
HALSEY IS BACK AND EVERYTHING IS GOOD AGAIN. I know that a lot of people don’t like her new track, but I am obsessed with it, as she somehow always manages to make music that caters to my personal music taste at a particular point in my life. Also, there’s some new Kendrick on there, simply because Kendrick’s new album is dope as per usual and you should all listen to it, especially LOVE. and HUMBLE.
Life
So not everyone knows this about me, but I have been choreographing dances since I was twelve, and I currently serve as captain of my school’s dance team. We perform at all of the school’s basketball games, which is all well and good, but the highlight of my time on the dance team has always been our end-of-year showcase. This year I had the honor (and the misfortune) of organizing the showcase as well as choreographing a number of the pieces for my team. While it did not go as planned throughout the entire process, from setting the date to finding a venue to getting performers, the end result was something I am so so proud of. Realistically, it’s one of the best things I have ever done to this date, and I couldn’t be happier with my fellow captains and my team for making this possible.
Here is one of the pieces I choreographed for the showcase, entitled “Awake My Soul” – out of the 8 people in this dance, only 3 have true formal dance training, and they were able to make my vision for the piece come to life. I really hope you enjoy it!
