I know what you guys are thinking – Kat, where have you been? Yes, I haven’t posted consistently in a while, and I am super sorry for that. It feels like these two months have been so hectic, and my blog unfortunately went to the back-burner. However, hopefully this Chats with Kat addresses any of your questions and is the start of more consistent posts.
College Chats
As far as classes go, I finally feel like I have been managing my work load a little bit better. This semester was my first foray into my major courses, and you can imagine my stress! The good thing is that I finally feel passionate about my major, and I actually enjoy most of the classes I’m taking. The downside? Classes are a bajillion times harder!
I have to dedicate more and more time to studying and projects, which is totally fine and expected, but that means that my extracurriculars feel a little more overwhelming than usual. During the last Chats with Kat, I talked about all of the e-boards I was a part of, but since then I’ve dropped one of them and stepped back in my involvement with another club. It’s a sad thing, but it was definitely for the better.
Regardless, I can’t wait until the end of the semester. I feel super festive already, so I honestly can’t wait until I can close my textbooks and focus on spending time with my family.
Life Chats
Okay guys, I have some big news. I am studying abroad next semester in the UK!
I’ll be an exchange student at the University of Sheffield this spring through the Global Engineering Education Exchange (Global E3) program. The journey to study abroad was not easy to say the least (I even mentioned it in my semester goals), so I can’t begin to express my excitement that my dream is becoming a reality!
I am slowly working my way through booking accommodation, plane tickets, and tying up loose ends here at my home institution, and I plan on taking you guys with me every step of the way. My departure from the US (omg) is at the end of January, and there’s a lot of work that must be done!
Music Chats
Guys, I feel like I’ve been living under a rock for the past year. I discovered the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack recently, and it’s all I have been listening to. When I was in middle school I was a bit of a theater nerd, so it’s been cool to return to my roots with such an amazing soundtrack.
Also, my favorite band of all time, Paradise Fears, announced a mini tour and I bought my tickets to see them live this January! This will be my tenth (?) time seeing them live, and I am bursting with excitement. Their music has basically been a soundtrack to my journey of growing up, so I will never ever pass down an opportunity to see them.
Here’s a Spotify playlist of a bunch of things I’ve been listening to recently – check it out!
Blogging Chats
I will be honest – the past few weeks I have been experiencing some serious writer’s block. Sometimes when my stress levels get too high my brain doesn’t have any room to be creative, so hopefully as the semester winds down I’ll get back into my groove again.
With blogging, I am so excited to put together some study abroad posts for you guys – like I said before, it’s going to be a process, and I think that will make for some great content. Additionally, Caitlyn from College with Caitlyn‘s fashion posts have inspired me to venture into fashion a little bit and broaden my horizons, so hopefully I will have some cool fashion posts up for you guys. I’m not the most fashionable person in the world, but I think it is definitely worth a shot.
If there’s anything you guys would like to see from me (or if you want to do a collab!), please feel free to reach out. I love to hear other people’s opinions, and it’ll help my blog be the best it possibly can be!
Final Thoughts
It felt so good to finally write again and get all of these thoughts out in the open, and I can’t wait to put out more and more content for you guys. I hope the rest of your semester and year goes smoothly wherever you are, and I’ll talk to you all real soon!
