Chats with Kat: Vol. 3

January 20, 2018

Hello friends! I wanted to write a quick little Chats with Kat update post to kind of make up for being MIA last week. Even though I’m still technically on break, it hasn’t really felt like one! Between working and preparing for the semester ahead, January has been crazy busy.

Since I haven’t really been keeping any of my social medias updated (except for Twitter, where I live-tweet episodes of The Office), here’s a little bit of what I’ve been up to recently:

College/School Chats

My grades came in for the Fall 2017 semester, and you guys, I did it! I got a 4.0! If you read my Fall Semester goals you know that this was a huge goal for me, and I’m so so proud. Hopefully this streak continues on for the rest of my college career – after all, I only have three more semesters left before I graduate!

Speaking of next semester, I’ve been scrambling around like crazy trying to prepare for my time abroad. I leave for the UK in T-10 days, and I’m feeling all the emotions. Everything is starting to become really real, and I’ll be honest: coping with those feelings while trying to prepare everything has not been easy. Still, I’m beyond excited for this adventure, and I feel so so blessed when I think about all the opportunities I am so lucky to have.

Amelie just posted a Q&A that was super duper helpful, and it made me realize that I’m still on the hunt for advice! Even though I put together a post of all of my favorite study abroad resources, if you have more links/videos or advice hit a girl up.

ALSO ALSO, I’m thinking about vlogging my experience! I haven’t ever done it consistently before, but I feel like it could be fun to record my adventures on video. Would you guys watch my videos? Let me know in the comments!!

Life Chats

Not gonna lie to you guys, this section of Chats with Kat is going to be a little bare. I’m working part-time for the remainder of the month before I leave, so I have very few updates. While I’m thankful to have the chance to work and build my resume, my life has basically been Excel spreadsheets and emails for the past two weeks.

I started watching The Office, and guys, I feel like I’ve been living under a rock for the past 10 years. It’s so so funny, and it might even be my favorite series, even more than Gossip Girl! My favorite character is probably either Jim or Andy, but honestly I think that Toby is so underrated. I’m starting a movement ya’ll – #JusticeForToby.

I’m currently on Season 5, and I’m going to be devastated when I get to the very end of the series. I know I have a long way to go, but I got through the first 4 seasons in that week between Christmas and New Year, so I’m trying to pace myself, haha.

Music Chats

This month I went to go see my favorite band, Paradise Fears, live for the ninth time! You can call me crazy, but nothing beats hearing my favorite songs played right in front of me. I went to tons of concerts when I was in high school, so this was also a chance for me to re-live my glory days & catch up with old friends.

In other music news, Taylor Swift’s newest album has really grown on me. I’ll be honest and say I wasn’t a fan at first, but the songs she co-wrote with Jack Antonoff really pulled me in. I’ve also been exploring other artists/rediscovering old favorites, so check out the playlist below:

Blogging Chats

A “Chats with Kat” exclusive for you all – I’m bringing back the #STEMBabes series this month! I know it’s had its ups and downs as a series, but it is something that I am super passionate about. I’ve recruited one of my favorite people for this month’s post, and I hope you’re just as excited as I am!

Final Thoughts

So that’s all for this Chats with Kat – I know it’s not the most #groundbreakingcontent, but I love writing these posts so much. They make me feel much closer to you as readers, and it’s a great way to decompress for me haha! I’ll be returning in the upcoming weeks with more content, so stay tuned friends 🙂
