Your girl Kat is back and better than ever (kinda) with another update post! I know my blogging style has been ~inconsistent recently, but hear me out. Hopefully this post clears the air a little & bridges the gap from my last Chats With Kat.
Whoever said that senior year is a breeze lied, you guys. I have two weeks left of school and with no slow down in sight. I’m not sure if it’s because of my major, because I studied abroad last semester, or because I’m doing senior year wrong, but that’s the reality of my life right now.
On the plus side, most of my finals are projects instead of exams! I am a firm believer in project-based learning, so that’s good at least. I’m also kind of weird and really like papers and presentations. Don’t judge me!
Moral of the story, though, is that I am so ready for school to be over. I (re)took my senior photos this past week, and putting on my cap & gown made me even more excited to graduate. It feels far away right now, but I know it’ll come sooner than later and I CAN’T WAIT!
For life updates, Thanksgiving season was a great one. I’m normally not one to look forward to Thanksgiving, but this one was special. My dance team held a “friendsgiving” for the first time ever, and it was so much fun! Everyone brought a dish, and someone even cooked a whole turkey. I am so happy with the way dance has been going this year, and the friendsgiving just made me feel that much closer to my team.
On another note, as of very recently I’ve been trying to find more balance in my life. With all of the stress that comes with school, the past few weeks have been really overwhelming mentally. I’m trying to get back into journaling, which has helped a lot, and saving myself time for the little things. For example, I wake up a little earlier to make sure I have time to sit and enjoy my coffee in the mornings, and it’s made a world of a difference!
I started watching Grey’s Anatomy again, and man what a show. It’s absolutely addictive! As a self-proclaimed medical nerd of sorts, I love all the surgical talk & viewing of surgeries. It’s a great thing to throw on when I need a little break or when I’m doing chores.
With regards to music, as I’m writing this I am listening to The 1975’s new album, A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships. The 1975 is one of my favorite bands, and senior-year-in-high-school Kat definitely would be fangirling right about now. This album is definitely different from their old stuff, but in the best way possible. It actually reminds me a lot of Chance the Rapper’s gospel-y stuff in terms of vibe, and I haven’t come across a song I dislike just yet. I love how cross-genre The 1975 is, and this album really reflects that!
So I have kind of a bigger announcement in this space – I’m planning on doing Vlogmas this year! It’s definitely an intense undertaking (I’ve never daily vlogged for that long before), but I think it will be really fun. I’m taking a page from Gabby from The Swirl‘s book and will film every day but upload weekly, so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, catch up on my videos here:
Additionally, I’ve got some pretty exciting stuff planned for the blog. I think I’ve finally figured out the kind of stuff that I love writing, and I hope you all enjoy it as well! I am considering rebranding, but I don’t have plans to do that for a long time.
I hope you enjoyed this little updates post! I’ll check in with you all soon, hopefully when I’m feeling a little more festive and a little less stressed.
