Well hey there, friends. It’s been quite the busy semester, and it seems like I hardly have any time to catch my breath. I’m probably the most active on Instagram stories right now, but beyond that, chances are that you haven’t heard from me in a while! Life has definitely been getting in the way of me updating my blog as much as I’d like to, but one of the things I love the most about blogging is that it’s there for me even if I haven’t written in a while. With that being said, here’s a tiny little update on what I’ve been up to while MIA from the blog!
College/School
I’ve been very vocal about the stress that I’ve been facing this year as a senior, but it seems that it ramped up like crazy after spring break. With only 37 days left until graduation, I suppose all of my professors decided that now is the time to put pressure on us students. My projects and assignments now require a higher level of analysis and technical knowledge, which makes it all the more challenging to get things done. I feel like I just can’t catch a break! I often find myself wishing I could have an easy last semester like ~everyone else.
On the flip side, though, I’ve never felt more like a graduating engineer! My technical abilities have grown so much in the last semester, and I’m thankful for that. I can’t tell you how empowering it is to be able to model in CAD or write 700 lines of MATLAB code. I love that I can do things like that now, even with all of the stress that got me here.
In other school related news, I participated in my last ever dance team showcase last Wednesday. The entire day was so bittersweet – dance has been such a consistent part of my life for the past 19 years, and an integral part of my college experience. It’s brought me a little family here at school, and given me the opportunity to keep performing. For it to all be “over” feels really strange, and I think it’s the one thing I will miss the most about college!
Life
For spring break, my mom and I ventured across the country to San Francisco for a few days! It was truly one of the greatest trips I’ve ever taken. My mom and I are really similar in the way we approach travel and things in general, so it was one of the smoothest trips ever. We had so much fun exploring the city and bonding! I have been slowly working on a blog post about our time in SF, so be on the lookout for that coming soon.
In more recent news, I spent the past three days commuting to NYC for the Women in the World Summit at Lincoln Center. As someone who is passionate about becoming more informed about the current state of the world, I can’t begin to describe how eye opening and COOL this experience has been. Woman leaders from across the globe (INCLUDING OPRAH) came to speak on the state of their industries and women’s place in those industries, and it was beyond impactful. Again, I will be putting up a blog post with more detail on the Summit super soon!
Blog/YouTube
If you’ve gathered anything from the last section, it might be that I have a LOT of content planned out. I just haven’t had the time to sit down and write it! I’ve truly just been backed up with school work, and that has been so beyond frustrating. I love blogging and creating content, but it’s hard to do that when other priorities take up so much of my time. My hope is that as the semester winds down I’ll have more time to put together the kind of content I’m proud of, and be able to share that with all of you.
In terms of YouTube, I am trying to become more consistent with my weekly vlogs, because they’re just so much fun to film! I love being able to look back on any given week and see what happened – it’s nice to be able to reflect in that way. Hopefully I will be more consistent in the coming weeks as college winds to a close for me.
Final Thoughts
Anyway, that’s what’s been going on with me in a nutshell! There are so many things coming up as I reach the end of college (still SO SURREAL omg), and I can’t wait to share them all with you.
