Well hi there, guys! Long time no talk. SO much has happened since my college graduation post, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it all. Life became pretty overwhelming pretty quickly. Still, sitting down to type out this blog post feels like a breath of relief. For a long time I worried that I didn’t want to blog anymore, but sitting here makes me realize that I just haven’t had much to say until now!
So, what have I been up to since graduating college?
I took a bit of time off from everything to clear my head a little. I’m not typically one that enjoys sitting around and doing nothing all day, but I wanted to focus on making my time off truly feel like summer. Like, a just-ended-fifth-grade-and-don’t-have-reading-over-break-summer. I went “down the shore” (as they say in Jersey), attended to graduation parties, swam in the pool, and overall had a few weeks of carefree nothingness. My family and I even took a vacation and went on a cruise! Life from June-August since graduating high school has been working and/or interning, so this was a much much needed break. I felt kind of like a kid again, which is in stark contrast to the other stuff that’s been going on.
“Adulting” Life
The past month or so also involved a lot of “adulting”, as they say. Adulting is defined as “the practice of behaving in a way characteristic of a responsible adult, especially the accomplishment of mundane but necessary tasks.” I’ve always resented the word a little bit. When people say that ordering a pizza over the phone or sending emails out is “adulting”, it diminishes the meaning of the word in my book. However, going into this month has made it totally applicable to my life.
My job in engineering started just two weeks ago, which is a pretty exciting thing! I spent that time simply trying to get my bearings, and I’m finally gearing up to take on more responsibility. The role that I’m in now is going to challenge me technically, so I’m excited to learn as much as I possibly can. Even though I’ve interned here the past two summers, it’s still a brand new adventure. I love my team, and I can’t wait to dig into my projects! Let me know if you want me to do a dedicated post on what my job is exactly – I’d love to write it.

Finally, I am currently writing this from my very own apartment! I honestly still can’t believe I can say that. I just recently moved out to be closer to work, and I love the location I’m in. We squared away all of my furniture this weekend, so now I’m moving on to decorating. I put together a Pinterest board of the ~vibe~ I’m going for, but send me all the boho/modern room inspo!
All of these things come with the (IMO) true adulting things: lease payments, credit scores, bills, and benefits. It’s absolutely terrifying. I feel like the world is moving so quickly, and I’m just trying to catch my breath. In just over a month I went from stressing about finals to budgeting in taxes and a 401k – isn’t that insane? Regardless, I’m excited in the best way possible, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store.
Now, what’s next?
I am so excited to be back here blogging for you all, documenting this journey. Though a full time job takes up, well, a large amount of time, I’m hoping that now that my free time is mine I’ll be able to get back to doing things I really love. (i.e. the revival of my YouTube channel, and this blog!)
Other than that, I’ll be working and just taking things one step at a time. It’s the first time in my life that I have yet to figure out my next set of goals, and while that is scary, it’s also equal parts invigorating. I’m happy to have this freedom, and I’m happy to be in this next stage of my life. Onwards and upwards, friends!
