Semester Goals – Fall 2018 Mood Board

    August 24, 2018

It’s that time of year again, friends! I’m finding it hard to believe that I am already a senior in college, and this is the last fall semester goals post of my undergraduate career. For as long as I’ve had this blog, my semester goals have been a staple, and this year is no exception!

However, I’ve added a teeny tiny twist – after finding inspiration from Caitlyn‘s mood boards, I thought it would be appropriate to do one for this semester. I love the idea of visualizing what you want, and hopefully making a mood board will help me to achieve my goals more fully!

    The Color

Before I get into the goals, I want to address the color really quickly! If you couldn’t tell, I am really into yellow. Although I haven’t been wearing much of it, I find that I am super inspired by it. Especially this darker, cornflower-gold-y yellow! It reminds me of golden hour (my favorite time of day!), and it automatically brightens my mood.

I am definitely working on having a more positive outlook on life, but I’ll get into that with my semester goals!

    Semester Goals + Mantra

    1. Fall (back) in love with music

Music has always been a large part of my life, but recently I find that I am falling back on the same old songs, and not going to nearly as many shows as I would like. This semester, I want to rediscover one of my passions by listening to new music and going to more shows!

It might sound like a silly goal, but it is really important to me. Music, to me, has the ability to take me back to a certain time and place. As senior year is one I want to remember, I want to have the perfect soundtrack to accompany it!

    2. Appreciate the little things…like iced coffee.

Another “silly” goal, but hear me out! (My boyfriend, Michael, is probably groaning at this one) When I was in England, I missed so many little things. Including iced coffee, but that is besides the point.

This semester, I hope to treasure the things I love a little more. Things like my family, my friends, my smaller school, iced coffee, sushi, and my entire wardrobe. I definitely had a tendency to take those things for granted, but now that I’ve lived without them, I don’t think I ever will again.

    3. “Just enjoy where you are now.”

Something that my co-workers consistently told me during my internship was to enjoy my senior year, as I would never be as free as I am right now. It was definitely hard to believe them, as I loved working, but I know deep down that they’re right.

I hope to live more in the moment this semester – it is my senior year after all! I definitely find myself focusing on the little problems often, and this semester is my first opportunity to yank my head back and give myself a little perspective. I’m definitely happy to be where I am right now, and I want to stay that way.

    4. Work out more!

This is literally on every single semester goals post I’ve ever created, and I am determined to do it this time. I want to be my healthiest and happiest self this year, and I want more than anything to put in the work to make that happen.

If you have any tips on balancing school along with maintaining a workout schedule, hit a girl up! I’m worried about it, but I am more determined than I have ever been before.

    5. “You are worth so much.”

This is my first (and probably last?) time as a Resident Assistant, and throughout training this week I found it most difficult to be assertive and know my worth. I’m used to being a people pleaser, and in order to do my job effectively, I am going to have to do things that make people unhappy.

My goal this semester is to build my confidence & assertiveness.I want to work on my “commanding” presence, and I am excited to utilize my new experiences as an RA to help me do just that.

    6. Build a work wardrobe!

You guys, having a big-girl job and wearing big-girl clothes is not something I thought about until I left my internship last week. In a years’ time, I will (hopefully) be wearing business-casual clothes every single day, and my wardrobe is not equipped to handle that just yet!

This semester, I am going to focus my clothing purchases on good-quality, work-appropriate clothing. I know that sounds kind of boring, but now is the time to do it! Besides, business casual clothes are fun. Who doesn’t love a good blazer?

    7. “I don’t totally know where I’m going, but that’s never stopped me before.”

Speaking of which, my largest goal this semester is to work on figuring out my post-college path. It is absolutely terrifying not to know where I am going to be in a years’ time, but it’s a challenge that I know I can’t avoid.

Even though jumping into this abyss is daunting beyond belief, I am not going to let it stop me from trying my best. I think I become a little more ready to be a grad every day, and I want to show off my capabilities to the world!

    8. Visit New York City more!

Could I be any luckier? I’m just a 20 minute train ride away from NYC. And yet, I can count on my hand the number of trips I’ve made to the city from campus. Considering NYC is one of my favorite places in the world, I am definitely ashamed to admit that.

That’s all changing this year, though! I hope to visit NYC more this year, and explore all it has to offer. I mean, if I could make time to visit London (a 3-hour train ride away!) four times last semester, I can definitely make the time for a 20 minute ride to my favorite city. Right?

    9. Get my life back in order (bullet journaling).

Finally, the last of my semester goals is the most related to school. Go figure?

I found myself falling off the wagon when it came to bullet journaling a lot last year, but this semester I am determined to stay committed to it. I love bullet journaling, and with my new schedule I know it will be more than helpful. I’m currently working on newer, more exciting spreads, and I can’t wait to put them to use once classes and RA responsibilities and dance kick in!

    Final Thoughts

Honestly, writing this post was fun and easy – having a visual really helped me flesh out my thoughts, and I am so excited for the rest of this semester & year. Here’s to new beginnings, and to endings!
