I will be the first to say that I love casual clothes. You can bet that 6 out of the 7 days in the week I’m wearing a t-shirt and jeans. That’s just who I am, and it’s who I’ve always been! However, with the “real world” large and looming as time speeds towards graduation, I find myself currently gravitating towards more business casual pieces. Goodbye light wash denim, hello living in slacks!
Business Casual – Emphasis on the Casual
Even on the quest to build my work wardrobe, though, comfort and versatility remain my top priorities. That’s why I love this outfit (specifically these pants!) so darn much. I purchased them from Banana Republic on sale, and they are perfect for dressing up or down. I snagged them for $35 – can you believe it?
Denim Jacket // T-Shirt // Pants // Sneakers
A few days before taking these photos, I wore them to my Capstone mid-term presentation (in true business casual form). For this trip to the city, though, I was able to make them a little more casual by pairing them with my trusty Vans and Madewell denim jacket.
These pants are also super duper comfy! The waistband is elastic, and they are a little bit higher rise, which I love. Finding work-appropriate clothes can be tough, but these pants give me hope. I can’t wait to go shopping for more work clothes!
SisterxSister NYC
I was fortunate enough to be in the city to take these cutie pics because of the last SisterxSister meetup of the year! My old friend Sabrina and I reconnected to attend the meetup together, and it was super nice to catch up with her after so long. She is actually the photographer behind these pictures, and if you’re in the NYC/NJ area looking for a photog, I highly recommend her!
SisterxSister is a networking group through build & bloom for girls in media, and I am so happy I got to attend. I met so many talented & sweet girls who are passionate about photography, and the topic for November really hit home for me.
We spoke about the importance of taking breaks from a creative career to avoid burn-out, and if you are a frequent reader you know I am not afraid to do just that! Over the course of these past few years, I have really learned that even if you love something, nothing is worth sacrificing your sanity and mental health.
The group isn’t meeting again until March, but if this sounds like your speed, I highly recommend going! (There are meetups in 14 cities across the US!) It was such a fun time, and I can’t wait to attend again.
Oooh and I almost forgot – I vlogged the whole day! In terms of editing it’s probably one of my favorites out of everything on my channel, so check it out if you can:
