Hello my dear friends! Welcome to my END! OF! YEAR! wrap up! I know it’s been a hot minute since we last spoke, and things are a little different (if you noticed, my blog looks a lil’ different too!!!), so let me get you up to speed.
August – Michael and I started the process of moving in together, and we said goodbye to Hoboken! It was really sad to say goodbye to such a fun era of our lives, but very exciting to start our lives as roommates in addition to fiancés. Megan and I also went to see the Jonas Brothers as our last official roomie outing :’)
September – Biggest highlight of the month was taking another work trip to Ireland! Even in spite of some horrific AirBNB nonsense, we managed to have a nice time exploring Dublin and the west coast of Ireland in our spare time from work. I also feel like I thrive in Ireland for some reason (must be all the Guinness?), and it felt overall like a very successful work trip. Oh, and I turned 26!
October – WEDDINGS to kick off the fall! We attended three weddings in late September through October, had our engagement party, and started touring venues. I’ll likely get into this later, but the New Jersey wedding industry is absolutely insane. Our engagement party (fall themed!) was the most lovely day. It was so wonderful to be surrounded by our friends and family!
November – I dragged Michael out to see The 1975 with me (my top Spotify artist of 2023, thankyouverymuch), we saw some old friends, and got our house ready for the holidays. Also, gave my little old blog a facelift!!
December – Not much to report aside from tapering off of our wedding planning sprint, getting to go to Disney for work, and spending some holiday time with family.
hits different this time
It is kind of crazy to think about where I was this time last year, and just how much things have changed for the better. I was so excited for 2023 because I knew it would be a big year, but I didn’t know how good it would feel to be encountering all of these new, different experiences. Like, I’m planning a wedding! This time last year I could barely keep my little room in Hoboken organized!
I took a bit of a different approach to preparing for 2024 this year compared to other years. In the past I’ve done words of the year, intentions, etc., but this year I tried my hand at some manifestation journaling and mood-boarding. It was my first time doing anything like that, and it was super fun. Basically I envisioned the kind of person I want to be December 31, 2024, and wrote a bunch of sentences in present-tense, as if I was already there. Then, I used Landing Space to put together a mood board to seal in my manifestation (because it was so therapeutic I considered it meditative). I created it into a phone lock screen too (save it below if you want)! The process was very relaxing, and I can’t remember the last time I felt this motivated/like myself. The new year is hitting different this time, and I’m very grateful.
on other life things & looking ahead
I initially thought about making this post about wedding planning, but I believe that is an entirely different beast. I will probably be posting on Substack in lieu of my newsletter to talk through some wedding planning thoughts (because it’s literally all I think about now – check there now for our engagement story if you are curious!!!!!). Feel free to subscribe and let me know what you’re curious about re: wedding planning 🙂
In other news, I loved these quarterly wrap-ups on the blog. It’s been the right dose of blogging for me so I hope that you enjoyed them this year as much as I have. I’m so excited to keep making them in 2024!
As per tradition, the State of the Union for 2024 is below:
enjoying the process
percy jackson & the olympians (i’m healing my inner child)
ballroom dance lessons
mood boards & recreational powerpoints
making coffee at home
feeling sorry for oneself
whoever decided to discontinue the Dunkin’ brown sugar syrup
the new york jets (from playoff eligibility) (michael requested i include this)
new jersey bride facebook groups
pre-teens in sephora
only traveling for work
wedding vendor sticker shock
(I want the record to show that I was doing this all year before the trend started on instagram)
As always, thank you for reading, and I look forward to talking to you soon!
